Outlook 2013: Find empty "To:"

Hi --

In Outlook 2013, how do I compose a search to find every message in an Inbox that has an empty "To:" field?

I suppose it would be the same if I wanted to find messages with an empty "Subject:" field as well.

I've tried several things, but none have worked.

TIA

You need to go to advanced and use this form.

Advanced -- Advanced -- Field (Select "address field" =TO) -- Select is Empty

Thanks.

The one issue with that approach is that it lists all its hits in a separate window and doesn't expose the Inbox's Ribbon.

Why is that a problem besides personal preference?! What is that you need to do with this search?

It's not personal preference. I have several tools that won't work if I open a message from that Advanced Search list and then try to apply the tool. They work perfectly well if I apply them to the message link in a mailbox folder list, though.

To work off of an Advanced Search listing, I have to drag the found messages into another folder, open the folder and then apply the tool from there.

I see,

So you need a Macro that moves these emails to a special folder, seems.

You can write a macro for that.

Hi Chuck,

As suggested by Nosh, you may need a Macro.

If you have any problem writing the macro, please seek help from the Outlook for Developers forum:
